Once again the Connecticut forest products industry opened its pocket books and hearts to support the Log A Load for Kids Campaign. This year’s campaign raised $2,560 for the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center in Hartford, CT.
$660 was raised through a drawing held in conjunction with the Southern New England Regional Game of Logging Competition held during Celebrating Agriculture at the Woodstock Fairgrounds in Woodstock, CT. First prize was a new Dolmar chainsaw won by none other than Timpro member Mike Bartlett of Hull Forest Products. Other items donated to the drawing was a cord of cut, split and delivered firewood offered by David Trowbridge of Trowbridge Forest Products, Bob Carrington gratuitously donated a case of bar oil, Nichols Forestry and Logging donated a Tractor Supply gift card, Bill Girard donated a safety helmet and bar oil, various businesses including Supreme Forest Products, Hull Forest Products, Gibson Hill Forest Products, Kahn Tractor, Beaver Brook Sawshop and others donated company T-shirts and more.
In 2007 the Connecticut Professional Timber Producers Association became the sponsoring forestry trade association for the national Log A Load for Kids Campaign. Since 2007 the Connecticut Professional Timber Producers Association has raised $14,741 for the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center. Log A Load For Kids® is a nationwide giving campaign through which loggers and other forest industry people contribute the value of a load of logs, or any amount, to local Children's Miracle Network affiliated hospitals and organize related fundraising events. One hundred percent of all contributions go to local CMN hospitals - overhead expenses are contributed separately by sponsoring associations, the Children's Miracle Network, and corporate and private underwriting.
