Beginning in 2007, the Connecticut Professional Timber Producers Association became the sponsoring trade association for the nationally recognized Log A Load for Kids Campaign for the state of Connecticut. Since 2007, the Association has helped raise over $12,000 for the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center in Hartford, CT. Every September the Association sends out flyers seeking donations for the annual campaign. Any amount, no matter how small, is gratefully appreciated. The campaign is run in conjunction with the Southern New England Game of Logging Regional Competition held at Celebrating Agriculture in September at the Woodstock Fairgrounds in Woodstock, CT.
Log A Load For Kids® is a nationwide giving campaign through which loggers and other forest industry people contribute the value of a load of logs, or any amount, to local Children's Miracle Network affiliated hospitals and organize related fundraising events. One hundred percent of all contributions go to local Children's Miracle Network hospitals - overhead expenses are contributed separately by sponsoring associations, the Children's Miracle Network, and corporate and private underwriting. There are currently Log A Load campaigns in 30 states.
